The Brasserie

The Brasserie opened in 1997 and were the first restaurant to introduce Cayman diners to the global farm-to-table and sea-to-plate concepts.  They have continued to be trendsetters in the industry by buying from local farmers, but also catching fresh fish with their two fishing boats, utilising their ‘Chateau Chooks’ eggs, harvesting coconuts from their Coco Bluff plantation and maintaining a private garden on their property.  They change their menu daily based on what is fresh, seasonal and local.  They only open weekdays with a different themed menu daily for dinnertime as well, such as Monday’s ‘Secret Pleasure’ tasting menu to Friday’s ‘Pizza & Pinot’ deal. If you are in search of a Caribbean fusion concept that is primarily seafood focuses, then this is where you want to be. They have some signature items that will never leave the menu - a Truffle Grilled Cheese paired with local jam, Smoked Fish Dip and the Tenderloin Steak Frites with homemade pepper jelly and chimichurri. When it comes to drinks, you should try their garden-inspired cocktails that will utilise fresh ingredients like gooseberry, mint and mango. The ambiance inside their main dining experience is rare to see on the island, but it’s wonderful because it gives a nod to old Caribbean architecture with dark woods, neutral colours and woven fans. The layout is separated into other areas as well including a private wine room, indoor patio room and outside garden seating.

Not only is this restaurant a hit for foodies and business lunches, but it also hosts multiple events throughout the month that tend to be food & wine focused. From more intimate events like SWIRL, as sip, snack and learn event hosted by Master Sommelier Simone Ragusa to their large-scale Harvest Dinners where Chef Dean Max brings celebrity chef friends from abroad to do a one-night only event combining local ingredients with their flavours. There is a lot taking place in this one venue that it is hard to keep up!

I should mention that the property is home to 3 more concepts that may also be to your liking. Want a more casual café approach? Head next door to The Market for hot lunches, build-your-own salads and sandwiches.  Want a filling comfort meal? Visit Caboose for all of your smokehouse meats, fish, tofu and a range of inspired hot and cold sides. Not feeling too hungry?  Swing by Juiced at The Wicket for flavourful, freshly made smoothies and juices.
